The Race by Ava

The Race
By Ava

My heart was beating as I crossed the swarms of people in my way.  Mum and Dad were watching me the whole way through the race.  My mind was racing.  Who will get there first?  I sprinted through the long grass and jumped high over the rocks.  I thought I would win the race, but would I?  I kept thinking I would win, while Will tried to catch up with me.  I could hear the faint voices of Mum and Dad cheering for me, so I kept going fast.  Suddenly, I realised I was being left behind.  Quickly I took a big run, dodged Will and touched the cone and ran.  I reached the end just in time.  Mummy gave me a big hug.  "You did it Ava,"  she said.
